Leash Life Skills Group Class
This group class meets weekly over the course of 3 weeks and gives you an in-depth understanding of leash skills, including OFF LEASH skills! You will learn how to manage your dog on leash and off, with a long leash, a regular shorter leash, and when it is appropriate to have your dog off leash or on. You will learn how to transition from on leash to off leash with reliable behaviors in a variety of situations.
This class is perfect for people who have dogs who pull hard when on leash but are awesome off leash, OR for dogs who are great on leash but who might not be controlled as well without one!
Requirements- no reactive dogs (to people, other dogs, other animals, or vehicles). Must be able to accept a leash.
Class requires the following items (links can be found on the General Resources Page for Tess Recommendations!)
- Harness with a leash connection on the top (back) and front (chest) of the harness. Tess suggests the Blue 9 Balance Harness!
- Multi-function Leash of 4-6 ft. Tess suggests the Euro Leash from Two Hounds Design, it comes with a floating ring that attaches to a traffic handle, and can be used in a variety of ways, including hands free, or as a quick tether to a tree or table.
- 15 ft or longer soft cotton/poly rope long leash. Tess and I LOVE the Mendota 15', 3/8" snap leash.
- Carabiner with a weight rating 3 times the weight of your dog.
Class registration is now open. Register by filling out the group form found under the forms page. You can pay with a credit card online now, or with a check/cash at the first class. Class will begin April 21, 2022.
